The National Gardens Scheme(NGS) is a charitable organisation which co-ordinates a network of gardens nationwide which are open to the public. Most are privately owned and all donate any money raised from visitors from the sale of plants or cakes back to the charity. The NGS publishes The Yellow Book which is a guide to garden visiting, covering over 3,700 gardens. In Welwyn Garden City, local to Ivinghoe, we are lucky to have a beautiful example in Digswell Road, Welwyn Garden City.
It is a town garden of a third of an acre centred around a magnificent lawn and featuring exotic plants including a succulent bed and ‘jungle’ area with banana palms and bamboo.
The garden in Welwyn Garden City is open top the public on 2 set days a year and by appointment at other times through the summer months.
